The Positives: 1. Philly gets a jump start on 2021 (sort of).

The last thing Philly or any of their fans want is to see the ‘Birds’ wind up in the same position that they have been in for what seems like the past four offseasons. No matter what they do, every offseason seems to be about the same thing.

We’re all trying to figure out how this team is going to find wide receivers and guys who can cover. The good news about a signing like this is plentiful, but here’s an angle that may not get talked about much. Had Philly not traded for Slay, there’s a high chance that he may have been the best available free agent cornerback in 2021’s version of free agency.

When you look at it that way, trading for Slay means Philly gets a jumpstart on next season, and believe it or not, had Philly gone after him a year from now, he might be even more expensive. He’s already the best cover guy on the Eagles roster. That’s another positive, but they’ll still need to add a corner or two in the draft.
