4. Somehow and some way, the Eagles are going to screw themselves.

Here’s something else to consider. Philly has Dallas Goedert in the fold. Last season, “88” really came into his own. Is he on Zach Ertz’s level? He probably isn’t. Is he one of the top ten players in the league at his position? He most certainly is.

Goedert shined in 2019, hauling in 58 receptions for 607 yards and five trips to the end zone. It’s Goedert’s presence and his emergence that has some saying Philly could move on from Ertz with relative ease. There’s just one problem. If the Eagles do so, they have to have a conversation about value.

If Philly shops Ertz for a trade, what should they ask for?

There were rumors of Julio Jones, but that brings us all back to the theories that Philly doesn’t want experienced guys. They want everyone in the huddle to look to Wentz for guidance, so let’s throw that one out. Here’s another question. If the Eagles move Ertz, would they do so to land a wide receiver? If they’re indeed looking for a young one, you have to consider this. What NFL team is parting with their young stud receiver to bring an older version of Ertz in?

Maybe Philly can part with “86” and get a draft choice. Again, they’d have to consider the comparable value. What do you ask for when you part with the NFL’s third-best tight end? Should they ask for a first-round draft choice? Is that too much? Would anyone give them one? What about a second-round draft choice? Surely, something in the third round is too low, right?
