3. If things don’t go right for Cox in 2020, the “Birds” don’t have a shot.

Whether we want to admit this or not, we’re all waiting to see if 2020 will be another average year based on the high bar that we’ve all set for him. Let’s hope it isn’t. With Malcolm Jenkins and Nigel Bradham gone, Cox, Jalen Mills, Rodney McLeod, and Brandon Graham are the leaders on this Eagles defense. Success from that unit will be dictated by the success of those four.

The Eagles and their fans have asked everything of Cox, and they’ve gotten everything that he has to give. No one has ever questioned his skill or motor. Now, the team needs even more. “91” will be expected to play above the standard we’ve all set for him, especially now in Jenkins and Bradham’s absence.

He’s a legend with nothing to prove, but now, with Jackson back and Hargrave in the fold, there’s no reason to believe he shouldn’t or won’t answer the call. 2020 should provide some fireworks at defensive tackle. If the coming campaign is void of any or if there are any long droughts, the “Birds” have no shot at making any major noise.
