. Marcus Smith, 1st Round (2014). . player. 849. .

The only feather that Chip Kelly can put in his NFL head coaching cap is he made a few decent decisions in the draft. Marcus Smith isn’t one of them. Sure, Kelly drafted Lane Johnson, Nelson Agholor, and Zach Ertz, but he screwed up more personnel decisions than he’ll ever be remembered for getting right.

How about trading LeSean McCoy for Kiko Alonso, trading Nick Foles for Sam Bradford, or shipping DeSean Jackson out of town?

Taking Marcus Smith in the first round of 2014’s draft is another in a long line of decisions that might make one wonder whether or not Chip Kelly was a spy sent to destroy the “Birds” from the inside. This first-rounder was only able to muster 23 tackles and four sacks in an Eagles jersey over the course of 37 games.  Grade: F
