K.J. Hamler and 5 wide receiver targets for Eagles in second round of draft
By Dan Parzych
Nothing is set in stone at the moment since the last thing Philadelphia is going to do leading up to the draft is show their cards to other teams, but the two meetings with Kamler alone make it clear the interest is there in the Penn State wideout.
Watching the Eagles finish on top of the NFC East last season despite Carson Wentz basically working with practice squad members at receiver, but if Philadelphia thinks they can get away with this again in 2020, the team will most likely be in for a major wake-up call.
Obviously, there was no way of the Eagles knowing they would be dealing with all of the injuries at wide receiver last season, but it will be up to them to make sure the unit has the necessary depth to avoid another situation like 2019.
Hamler may not seem like the best option to fix all of the issues Philadelphia experienced last season, but with his ability as a route runner along with quick burst, it’s easy to understand why the Eagles were willing to meet with the wideout for a second time.
Selecting Hamler in the first round would obviously be a bit of a stretch since he will easily still be available on Day 2.
And even if the Eagles needed to trade up to avoid another team expressing interest, this could be well worth it to help Philadelphia’s situation at wideout.
