2. J.J. Arcega-Whiteside

Speaking of another early selection from last year’s draft, the Eagles were hoping to see J.J. Arcega-Whiteside turn out to be a great fit in the passing game as a rookie, and take advantage of being part of a stacked group of receivers.

Instead, Arcega-Whiteside failed to live up to the high expectations after finishing his rookie campaign with just 10 catches for 169 yards with a touchdown, despite being active for every game with Philadelphia.

Sure, the argument can be made that Arcega-Whiteside deserves some benefit of the doubt since he had to overcome a few injuries in the offseason leading up to September, but also fans realize the opportunities were there for the young wideout to step up in the passing game.

Due to all of the injuries surrounding certain key players such as DeSean Jackson and Alshon Jeffery, Arcega-Whitside was in great position to see additional passes thrown in his direction on numerous occasions, only to basically come up short each time.

Also take into consideration that Greg Ward Jr. was able to take advantage of the additional playing time, and the high amount of talent from this year’s draft class at wide receiver, Arcega-Whiteside will certainly be facing plenty of pressure as a sophomore.

For months, there has been plenty of speculation that Philadelphia will in fact take advantage of the strong draft class at wide receiver in less than two weeks, and assuming this turns out to be the case, the pressure surrounding Arcega-Whiteside will reach new levels.
