Greg Ward Jr.

Believe it or not, Ward was a two-position athlete back in the day after playing both wide receiver and quarterback in high school, but would play mostly quarterback in college.

In fact, the Tyler, Texas native did play both positions at Houston as a freshman to show off his impressive set of skills.

At Houston, Ward found a way to rush for 2,375 yards in four seasons, and even set a school single-season record for a quarterback with 21 rushing touchdowns as a junior in 2015.

Ward would unfortunately end up going undrafted in 2017, but he would sign with the Eagles after the draft like Clement.

But unlike Clement, Ward could not celebrate just yet, as he was signed and cut multiple times by the team over the next three years before finally making a significant impact as a wide receiver for the team last season.

In 2019, the Eagles receiving corps was struggling with injuries, which finally gave Ward his chance to join the team, and prove he was worthy of a roster spot.

During the seven games of action, Ward caught 28 receptions for 254 receiving yards, and one touchdown, which turned out to be one of the memorable moments of the season for Eagles fans since it was the game-winning touchdown in a key game against the Washington Redskins.

Without Ward, it’s tough to imagine Philadelphia having what it takes to make the playoffs, and should result in him taking on a more consistent role during the 2020 season.

Looking back at both Clement and Ward, it shows that fans should not overlook the players go undrafted since they could always end up being a missing piece to a team looking to reach the Super Bowl or at least the playoffs in general.
