. Grant Delpit, LSU. 2. player. 817. .

Former LSU Tigers standout Grant Delpit is a name that’s been mentioned as a possible candidate for a midnight green jersey, though most of the time, that’s also been done in passing.

If he’s the guy the eagles take in Round 1 or he gets talked about between now and when the Eagles are on the clock, don’t panic if you’re on the “I want a wide receiver” train. Philly will have the second round and several chances in the mid-rounds to land one of this year’s magnificent pass catchers.

They won’t have as many chances to land a safety with Grant Delpit’s ability. You all know Joe Burrow’s name. If you’re an Eagles fan, you know Justin Jefferson’s name. You may not know the name Grant Delpit as well, but do yourself a favor.

Go to YouTube, find a few highlights and you’ll understand why he’s seen as a potential first-rounder.

Xavier McKinney, The Tide. 1. player. 829. . .

The only young man that had any chance of edging out Delpit on this list was Alabama’s Xavier McKinney. wait. How many safeties did “The Tide” have?

Shyheim Carter was already mentioned, and if you wanted to, you could easily throw Jared Mayden’s name into a conversation about draft prospects. Yes, Carter and Mayden were good, but their playing time wasn’t as plentiful as it could have been because they had this guy as a teammate.

In 2019, McKinney stopped the guy with the ball 59 times as a solo artist, and he stuck his head in on 95 total tackles.

His three interceptions and four forced fumbles give him 175 total tackles, six sacks, five picks 15 pass breakups, six forced fumbles, a fumble recovery, and two defensive touchdowns in just 32 games as a college star. He’ll be the first safety taken in the selection meeting. He and Delpit will both be day-one starters in the NFL. There’s no doubt about it.
