Philadelphia Eagles: Ranking NFL Draft’s top 20 prospects at running back
For three seasons, we all just kept waiting for Jonathan Taylor to break down, and it never happened. He’s five-foot-ten and weighs 226 pounds which means he’s a little bigger than Swift. He ran the 40-yard dash in 4.39 seconds which means he may be faster than Swift.
If you need an NFL comparison, look at it this way. He’s two inches shorter than Leonard Fournette, and he’s right around two pounds lighter. Oh, and just in case you’re wondering, Fournette ran the 40 in 4.51 seconds.
We bring Mr. Fournette’s name up for this reason. You remember what it felt like to watch him run over and past defenders during his time with LSU. Isn’t that sort of what Taylor looked like while he was doing the same thing in the Big Ten during his time with the Wisconsin Badgers?
Don’t look now, but Taylor has arrived and he’s the real deal. In 2019, he racked up 2,003 rushing yards, 21 rushing touchdowns, 252 receiving yards on 26 receptions, and five receiving touchdowns. Let’s call it now. Barring injury, he’s going to be very good for a long time, and you best believe there will be a few All-Pro nods in his future.
