1. Numbers from Alabama, Oklahoma for Hurts were impressive

From his impressive accuracy to ability to run, Hurts is another one of those quarterbacks who can bring plenty to the table for the Eagles at quarterback, even as a backup.

Right away, one of the most impressive statistics about Hurts from his college career is how smart he was with the football after only throwing 20 interceptions in 56 games.

And if this doesn’t seem impressive enough to some Eagles fans, it should also be noted that Hurts finished his college career with 80 touchdown passes, including 32 last season with the Sooners.

These numbers may not seem like that big of a deal when taking into consideration the obvious plan is to have Hurts never step foot on the field, and always have Wentz as healthy as possible, but it is great to have reliable insurance under center just in case.

With Doug Pederson having a strong history of quarterback development, it seems like only a matter of time before Hurts is considered the reliable No. 2 option for the Eagles.

As mentioned before, some Eagles fans are going to be upset over selecting Hurts this early in the draft with all of the other positions in need of improvement, but on a positive note, if all goes well, Philadelphia won’t have to worry about the right quarterback anymore.
