player. 54. . . . Marquise Goodwin.

Recently acquired Marquise Goodwin brings a similar skill set to the one that Jackson possesses, but also like Jackson, he carries an extensive injury history. Goodwin ended his 2019 season with the San Francisco 49ers on injured reserve. He’ll also turn 30 years-old in November.

The 49ers threw Goodwin in to sweeten a draft-day deal with Philly when the two teams swapped sixth-round picks during the most recent selection meeting.

Goodwin is as close as one can be to locking up a roster spot, and his new restructured contract with the Eagles is evidence of that. Shortly after his addition, the “Birds” gave him a one-year restructured deal worth $1.35 million, and he could earn up to $1 million more in incentives.

Goodwin is both fast and inexpensive. Now, according to Sports Injury Predictor, he’s also a high risk to be reinjured, but from a roster’s standpoint, he represents a low-risk, high-reward acquisition. His experience could thrust him into a starting role, but recent history has “Birds” fans hoping that they don’t have another situation like Mike Wallace’s or, dare we say it, DeSean Jackson’s on their hands.
