2. Sidney Jones and Jalen Mills split starting time, and both have career years.

As mentioned earlier, we’ve spent week after week contemplating what the Eagles plans are for finding someone to start opposite of Darius Slay. What about the prospect of going with Sidney Jones or just sticking with MIlls? Outside of making a handful of plays at the tail end of the 2019 regular season, Sidney Jones’ three-year run with Philadelphia has been a disappointment.

He’s got 50 tackles, ten pass breakups, and two interceptions on his NFL resume throughout 21 career games, and like Douglas, this season is the last on his rookie deal. Nickell Robey-Coleman, Avonte Maddox, and Cre’Von LeBlanc all figure to be more productive as slot guys. We’ve seen Jones play outside. It hasn’t worked, but we’ve seen it.

Some guys are late bloomers. Last year may have helped in Jones finally building some confidence. Expect that to carry over into 2020. Desperation will force the Eagles to start MIlls at cornerback to begin the season. Jones will take over after the first month. Both will produce the best seasons of their careers, at least we sure as heck hope so.
