2. Is anybody hearing anything about Alshon Jeffery?

Sure, you’re mad at him, but a lot goes into kicking this guy off of the roster. You’ve heard the cap number so many times that it’s no need to bother you with that again, but if Philly can’t trade “17”, seemingly an impossibility at this stage of the game, there’s some speculation that the “Birds” may just take their losses and move on anyway.

That’s never been stated definitively by anyone in the Eagles leadership structure, but the idea has definitely been said so many times that it had to have come from somewhere.

At this point, placing someone who can produce on the roster is much more important than keeping someone solely on the basis that he represents a major cap hit. If that’s the thinking, Jeffery’s out anyway.

Before Philly does anything though, Jeffrey’s got to be healthy enough to trade and pass a physical, which he isn’t, and again, it’s going to be hard to move him based on that recent injury history and what he’s supposed to be making.

Is it possible that he starts the regular season on the PUP (physically unable to perform) list? If he does or Philly cuts him, that definitely opens one of those expected six roster spots. Couple that with the idea that we can’t definitively say that Arcega-Whiteside and Ward are better than the likes of Watkins and Hightower, and those Day 3 rookies’ chances are looking a tad brighter.
