Philadelphia Eagles schedule: Studying 3 trap games that may wreck 2020
Week 3: September 27th
A second-year head coach, a rookie starting at quarterback, and a team that won two games in 2019 leads most of us to the same conclusion. The “Birds” get the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 3 of the 2020 campaign, and by most accounts. It’s a game that Philly ought to win.
This is the NFL however, and Philly would be wise not to put a check in the win column until the game clock has three zeros on it.
If you need a reminder, chew on this. The Eagles are 0-3-1 in their last four games versus Cincy, and in all four of those matchups, Philadelphia was expected to win.
There was the game in 2008 when Donovan McNabb said he didn’t know the overtime rules. There were two ugly home losses, one came at the hands of a backup, Jon Kitna. There was that 2016 drubbing in Cincy.
To make matters worse, this game sites between an early in-conference matchup versus the Los Angeles Rams (this time, Philly gets them at home) and a game with the defending NFC Champions, the San Francisco 49ers. You can best believe the coaches will tell their players to make sure they don’t look too far ahead. If they do, this might be one they lose big.
