Speaking of guys who are shells of their former selves, everyone please welcome Devonta Freeman to the list. The running back position is arguably the most punishing position in all of football and most of the professional sports, and it shows.

Just look at what Freeman was just four years ago and what he is now.

In 2016, Mr. Freeman toted the rock 266 times for 1,241 yards and 13 touchdowns. He contributed another 630 yards and three more touchdowns through the air on 54 receptions. Those numbers include two playoff games.

Four years later, he’s currently out of the league, and the Atlanta Falcons even decided to eat somewhere around $6 million in dead money to avoid having to pay him a salary of $6.5 million. Remember that?

Verdict: Devonta Freeman will never be a 1,000-yard rusher in the NFL again. He may be a more-accomplished receiver than Hyde is, but Hyde can get the job done out of the backfield if need be. Look no further than his 2017 campaign with the San Francisco 49ers where he snagged 59 receptions for 350 yards.

Even still, with all of that being said, if we are comparing Hyde to Freeman, give the edge here to Hyde. He’s the better of the two right now.
