Philadelphia Eagles roster outlook: Team DE power rankings and grades
Had the MVP trophy been given out after the preseason, Daeshon Hall might have been in the running in 2019. There were times that he looked like a combination of Trent Cole and everything we had all been praying that Derek Barnett would turn into. There was just one thing that no one talked about regularly, possibly out of fear or denial.
During those preseason games, he was playing against a lot of guys who would be at the bottom of a lot of rosters and even more guys that weren’t going to be playing in the league by the time the games started to count against the Eagles win-loss total.
Hall earned his spot. There’s no reasonable argument to deny that, but it took some doing to get him on the field, and then, when he finally did, the fears of every rational Eagles fan that hadn’t succumb to overreaction were confirmed.
Hall is good, but that dominating performance in the preseason was, indeed, partially attributable to the fact that he had played against, well, guys at the bottom of the roster and guys who didn’t even make the teams that they were competing on.
Even still, he should compete for a roster spot in 2020, or at minimum a place on the practice squad. Grade: D
