. player. 54. . . . Joe Ostman, defensive end

Well, looky here. Joe Ostman won a lot of people over in camp last season before injuries did him in and guaranteed he wouldn’t be on the field for 2019, but does anybody else wonder what might have happened had the “Birds” not carted him off of the field during that open practice on that Sunday night at Lincoln Financial Field?

Maybe he would have gotten hurt at some other point in the process. We’ll never know, but aren’t you curious?

Much of what we hear about Ostman at camp last season was he worked hard, he flew around, and he made plays. If you’re a fan and you’ve been watching the guys Philly has had on the outside since Michael Bennett and Chris Long left, it’s hard not to wonder if Ostman could have helped last year’s team out.

Philly’s set at their defensive line’s interior with Fletcher Cox, Malik Jackson, Javon Hargrave, and Hassan Ridgeway. There’s even talk that they can kick Jackson out to defensive end if need be, but Ostman will get a shot to compete with the likes of Josh Sweat and Shareef Miller for a roster spot. He could make some major noise, but this next guy on the list is going to do all that he can to ensure himself of a roster spot too.
