Everything starts with a bang.

When Alshon Jeffery signed a one-year deal with the Eagles, it felt like a dream come true. Philly had experimented with Dorial Green-Beckham and Josh Huff at different points, and Jeffery’s arrival meant Philly was finally bringing in a bona fide number one receiver.

Jeffery said he wanted to help Carson Wentz win multiple MVP awards, and QB1 responded by saying that all he wanted to do was win Super Bowls with Philly’s new star. We couldn’t wait to see this duo in action.

While the Eagles utilized everyone in the offensive scheme, Jeffery was a big part of what they wanted to do. In Week 2 of 2017’s season, he helped the Eagles to a near victory versus Andy Reid’s Kansas City Chiefs with seven catches for 92 yards and a touchdown.

Just a few weeks later, Jeffery caught four passes for 71 yards in a critical Week 6 game versus the Carolina Panthers. It wasn’t anything overwhelming, but Jeffery moved the chains when needed and started to become a reliable target for Carson Wentz.

From Week 8 to Week 11, “17” hauled in five touchdown receptions. His best game during that stretch came during a 51-23 thrashing of the Denver Broncos, where he put up 84 yards and two touchdowns.

He didn’t put up eye-popping numbers in Year 1, but when the Eagles needed a big play, he was often the go-to guy and got the job done. He finished the regular season with 57 catches for 789 yards and nine touchdowns. Not to mention, he played with a torn rotator cuff the entire year.
