Here are a few final thoughts.

If Alshon’s time in Philly comes to a close sooner rather than later, fans will look back one day without bringing up how things ended on a bad note. Eagles fans aren’t always quick to forgive, but they do. Sure, Jeffery may get an opportunity to prove himself this season. Howie has said that he wants to do just that, but we can’t be certain that he’ll get his opportunity.

While 2019 wasn’t ideal for the veteran wide receiver, Eagles’ fans should still remember him for his first two seasons in Eagles green. Jeffery was the go-to guy in so many big moments. Much of the Eagles’ success during that time, especially the Super Bowl run, was fueled by big-time players, and “17” was right at the top of that list.

Much of what Philly accomplished would not have been possible without him.

Unfortunately, the Eagles are suffering the consequences of his cap number, and based on that alone, they’ll probably have to keep him around for the time being. No one could have predicted what was to come in 2019 three years ago, but for many, Jeffery still holds a special place in the hearts and Eagles’ history, even now. Maybe there’s still a chance that he’ll win us all over in 2020 like he wants to.

Out of all of the receivers on the roster, he is one of the most experienced and also the most familiar with Doug Pederson’s playbook. That gives him an advantage given the current circumstances of COVID-19, while the rookies and new additions haven’t been able to practice.

For now,  we’ll hope that Alshon makes us forget what happened in 2019. Maybe he’ll surprise us. If he doesn’t, we should still remember his legacy as a critical part of two playoff runs and one very beautiful Vince Lombardi trophy.
