Might a surprise addition from 2019 be left off of the team?

What a difference a year makes. During the 2019 preseason slate of games, it seemed as though there was this feeling that Rudy Ford had secured a roster spot halfway through the schedule based on his speed and the value that he provided for the special teams unit.

There was some debate, but once the hammer dropped and Philadelphia introduced their final 53-man roster, Rudy Ford was, indeed, on it. Unfortunately, his regular-season run would reach its conclusion after only ten games, six total tackles, and an abdomen injury that he suffered during a late-season practice. The “Birds” placed him on the team’s injured reserve on November 23rd.

Since then, Philadelphia said goodbye to Malcolm Jenkins before extending Rodney McLeod. The Eagles also extended Jalen Mills. Some believe that was done in preparation to move him to safety though no official announcement by the team has been made yet.

Since then, the Eagles added Will Parks in free agency and K’Von Wallace in the most recent NFL Draft. Throw in the fact that Marcus Epps is probably higher on the depth chart than Ford is and it appears that all roads lead to a man who made the roster in 2019 being left off of it in 2020.
