Is defensive tackle the Philadelphia Eagles’ most impressive position on the squad?

As good as Timmy Jernigan was when he was healthy, the Eagles might be in a better position now after they’ve finally decided to move on without him. Malik Jackson‘s opening weekend injury in 2019 saddened “Birds” fans, but what got lost in the conversations about his absence was, before that, Jackson never had a history of injury concerns.

He should bounce back in 2020.

Add him to a rotation at defensive tackle that includes both Fletcher Cox and Javon Hargrave, and the argument can be made that defensive tackle is the strongest unit on this Eagles team regardless of which side of the ball that you’re discussing.

Projected depth chart: 1. Fletcher Cox, 2. Javon Hargrave, 3. Malik Jackson, 4. Hassan Ridgeway, 5. Bruce Hector, 6. Anthony Rush, 7. Albert Huggins, 8. Raequan Williams

Philly signed Ridgeway to a one-year extension on March 24th, so one might assume that he’s the fourth guy in the position’s rotation. Now, will Philly keep four defensive tackles or five? That’s the million-dollar question (pun intended).
