Are we still discussing the Philadelphia Eagles and their wide receivers?

The Philadelphia Eagles wouldn’t possibly be in the hunt for another wide receiver in 2021, would they? Believe it or not, it isn’t out of the question. By now, if you follow the “Birds”, you’ve probably reserved yourselves to the idea that dismissing Alshon Jeffery from the roster isn’t likely. Even if Philly was able to find someone silly enough to take on his $15 million 2020 cap hit, he still isn’t healthy enough to trade and pass a physical. That means the Eagles are probably stuck with him.

The other of the Eagles’ top two receivers is also their oldest. He’s a legend in the “City of Brotherly Love”, but DeSean Jackson’s 2020 run with Philly may be his last. There’s also JJ Arcega-Whiteside. He’s expected to make the leap in 2020, but there’s no guarantee that he will. Couple that with the uncertainty of what Philly might get out of “17” this season and a lengthier injury history than most would like to see in that of Marquise Goodwin’s, and one could make the argument that this Eagles team could be back in the market for another wideout early in 2021’s draft.

Let’s hope that doesn’t happen. If you’re an Eagles fan, you hope Jackson and Jeffery both have great seasons, but if the bottom falls out and that doesn’t happen, there will be some very capable prospects that are available. Here is a countdown and an initial look at five guys who could serve as an adequate replacement for Alshon Jeffery. We’ll have to wait and see how they develop and what Philly’s chances are at landing one or any of them.
