3. Hopefully, there won’t be a ton of injuries on this Philadelphia Eagles team.
Maybe it’s the fact that we’re talking about football and injuries are certain to happen. Maybe it’s some sort of karma for the “Body Bag Game” when the Eagles tried to murder the Washington Redskins during a 1990 Monday Night Football Game. Maybe it’s just bad luck or the fact that the Eagles have had to rely on old veterans because the young draftees simply haven’t worked out (those old guys get hurt you know). Maybe it’s all of those things.
Whatever the cause, the Philadelphia Eagles have been ravaged by so many injuries at so many important positions during the 2017, 2018, and 2019 seasons that it feels like the injury bug set up shop in the “City of Brotherly Love” and built a nest at Lincoln Financial Field.
Somehow, this Eagles team made it to the playoffs at the end of each of those seasons and they’ve even won the Super Bowl to conclude their journey through the 2017-2018 campaign. Doug Pederson should be commended. So should some of the unheralded guys, but the coaches need to continue to coach these young guys up that this team is drafting. The players need to step up when given an opportunity.
This team can’t continue to draft guys, cut them, sign or re-sign old talent and cross their fingers that the scout team can come through when called upon. The key to the Eagles offense is Wentz though. He’s the guy this team can least afford to lose. The only thing that can stop him is an injury or maybe a few key injuries to his teammates. Let’s hope the tide has turned if you love this team.
