The Philadelphia Eagles won’t see Derrius Guice either as he was released from the team following several reports of domestic abuse and misconduct.

The Washington Football Team is moving into a new era. The organization is pondering a new nickname, quarterback Alex Smith is healthy, and the team hired former NFL player and businessman Jason Wright as its new President. He’s the first team president in league history of African-American descent.

The news hasn’t been all good for Washington though as 2018 second-round draft selection Derrius Guice, who arrived from LSU with a great deal of hype, is no longer a part of the organization. After multiple years of injuries that have kept him off the field, Guice was officially arrested on domestic violence charges, prompting his immediate release by the organization.

Here’s a statement from the Washington Football Team.

According to USA TODAY, he’s since been charged with sexual assault, stemming from incidents during his time at LSU. According to the investigative report, ‘the women’s allegations were shared at the time with multiple people at the school, including at least two coaches, an athletics administrator and a nurse, yet the school does not appear to have investigated.”

It’s a sad end to a career that began with a lot of promise. Our thoughts are with all parties that have been affected.
