All of a sudden, the longshot, might be one of the favorites to make this Philadelphia Eagles roster.
All of a sudden, all of the tight ends are missing when it’s time to take the field. Zach Ertz has had his issues physically. Dallas Goedert has a hairline fracture in one of his thumbs, and now, Josh Perkins might be one of the guys who’s out for a while as he popped up on the injury report with an upper-body injury. According to multiple sources, including Eliot Schorr-Parks, Perkins is out indefinitely.
That means that there’s now an opportunity for Noah Togiai to prove his worth, which he’s done. He’s a six-foot-four and 247-pound prospect out of Oregon State Beavers program that hauled in 102 receptions for 1,048 yards and ten trips to the endzone in 34 career games at the collegiate level.
In a recent presser by Eagles head coach Doug Pederson, Togiai got a nice mention. Coach gives him credit for being a witty guy and said that he’d done an ‘outstanding’ job but also laments that the young man can hone his skills some and is still learning the ‘little things’, including the technique that it takes to be successful at NFL level.
As mentioned, with Perkins out, it’s hard not to believe that the door may have flung open for him to make this roster though. We’ll see how things go this week.
