. . . Defensive ends (6). . player. 54

Prepare for a bold prediction at defensive end for this Philadelphia Eagles team.

As the 2020 offseason began, there were some question marks surrounding these Philadelphia Eagles defensive ends. The most looming were whether or not this was Brandon Graham’s final run in midnight green and whether or not this would be Derek Barnett‘s breakout season as a member of the ‘Birds’.

For the latter, it wasn’t supposed to be this way. Barnett had finally entered a training camp healthy, but he got hurt (again). Uggh! Here we go again.

Before there even was a training camp to speak of, there were questions about ’96’. Is he a bust? Was it too early to tell? Might he finally showcase, for an entire season, the potential that made him a first-round selection in the first place and prove that he needs to be a part of this team’s long-term plans for the future?

Well, we have, at minimum, 32 Eagles regular-season games before we have to revisit this. Whether you consider this a wise move or one made too early, the ‘Birds’ decided to exercise the fifth-year option on Barnett’s rookie deal before the beginning of camp. Josh Sweat and Vinny Curry are the next two guys on the depth chart.

The question now is, if the Eagles keep six defensive ends, who makes this roster? Is it the guys who were here last year, Shareef Miller and Genard Avery, or is it the guys with less experience? If we’re being honest, Casey Toohill and Joe Ostman have had better camps.

Verdict: Derek Barnett, Brandon Graham, Vinny Curry, Josh Sweat, Casey Toohill, and Joe Ostman
