Philadelphia Eagles fans should keep an eye on these prospects tonight.

While the Philadelphia Eagles will have to wait another week to take the field, the NCAA Division 1 FBS season kicks off on September 3rd. Power five conferences that are playing kick off next weekend, but there’s still an intriguing slate of games for the opening weekend.

It isn’t uncommon to see schools from the ‘Group of Five’ like Temple, UCF, and Boise State upset a Power Five school and go on to have successful seasons. One lucky Group of Five team will, at times, get a shot against a top-tier Power Five team in a New Years’ Six Bowl Game at the end of the year. Still, some teams might have their eyes set on bigger things such as the College Football Playoff now that the Pac-12 and Big Ten conferences have canceled their seasons. The power five teams still reign supreme but the group of five has gained more and more respect over the course of recent years.

UAB could surprise college football fans in 2020. They take the field on September 3rd at 8 PM EST versus Central Arkansas of the FCS. The latter began the 2020 campaign last week with a 24-17 win. To, at least, get a chance at a New Years’ Six Game, UAB will need to get off to a hot start and get some momentum before they head into conference play in a few weeks.

Scouts are always on the lookout for the next big thing from a small school and with an increased chance at a College Football Playoff spot this year, those guys are going to be playing their hearts out. UAB’s prospects will get the most attention but even Central Arkansas might have the next NFL star on their roster. With that said, let’s take a look at which players Eagles’ fans should keep their eyes on in tonight’s matchup.
