The Philadelphia Eagles need to keep all of their running backs in the building.

If you haven’t heard by now, Adrian Killins Jr. is an electric running back. Whenever he sees the smallest opening, he could take it to the house. One of the biggest concerns for him coming into camp was that he didn’t have enough weight to play in the league.

He answered that by arriving at camp at 177 pounds compared to the 164 he was at while at UCF. If Marquise Brown played at 157 pounds last year, Killins can certainly play at 177. The Birds could use a true power back on their roster but it’s difficult to see Killins not getting a shot early this year as one of the two extra players on game day. The thought of Doug Pederson drawing screen passes and gadget plays for him is hard not to get excited about.

54. . . . Elijah Holyfield, running back. . player

Elijah Holyfield is probably the best fit for the power back role on the roster. He spent last year with the Carolina Panthers’ practice squad and the Eagles active roster. Playing in the preseason last year and being able to learn from the sidelines does give him a slight edge in experience.

Plus, he has known the scheme longer than the Killins and Michael Warren. Holyfield should also get a chance at some point this season.

Holyfield does have more experience but Warren is similar to Josh Adams and Jordan Howard in that he can wear a defense down as the game goes on. If anything crazy happens like last year with injuries, Warren has the ability to step into a bigger role.

Many fans were surprised that the Eagles decided to keep just three running backs on the active roster but maybe they just need to see more from the other three who were fighting for a spot. Warren could get the call to the active roster and become the fourth guy if he impresses.

Keeping all three running backs who didn’t make the active roster seems like the best decision with such a weird training camp. All of them showed flashes this summer and worth taking another look at. Duce Staley has proven his ability to churn out running backs so be on the lookout for all three of these guys.
