31. . . . New York Giants. 4. team

The Philadelphia Eagles should be able to sweep the Giants, right?

Somebody had to finish last, and in this case, it’s the ‘G-Men’. Questions surrounding this roster, and the answers are few and far between. Then, there’s the head coach, Joe Judge. How much success will he see after having minimal time with his new football team?

The Philadelphia native was an assistant for the New England Patriots for eight years. The highest position he held in his time there was as a special team coordinator and wide receivers coach last season. While, there is certainly nothing wrong with that (John Harbaugh, the Ravens head coach, held the same title with the ‘Birds’ before he got a chance to call the shots in Baltimore), we don’t know how ready Judge is to lead an entire team.

Another question surrounding Judge is this. When have Bill Belichick’s disciples proven that they can have long-term and consistent success? Maybe Mike Vrabel is on the right track. He took the Tennessee Titans to the AFC Championship Game in 2019, but that seems more like an outlier than the norm.

One thing that’s going to complicate Judge’s job is the lack of talent the Giants have. Daniel Jones could continue developing and his ceiling is certainly high, but we don’t know how that will turn out. He did complete 282 passes for 3,027 yards and 24 touchdowns versus only 12 interceptions last season. Running back Saquon Barkley is healthy and could return to the form that made him a star during his rookie year, but we’ll have to wait and see.

The Giants don’t have any real go-to guys at wide receiver. Heck, they may not have a number two receiver for that matter. Eagles fans should know better than anyone how difficult a quarterback’s job becomes when he has nobody to throw the ball to. The playmakers in New York all play on defense, but how are they going to score points? The combination of inexperience at the head coaching position coupled with this void of talent on offense means the Giants land at the bottom of this power ranking.
