EDGE Montez Sweat. 6. player. 58. . .

Here are two defensive linemen the Philadelphia Eagles must account for.

Second-year edge rusher Montez Sweat had the second-most sacks for this Washington team in 2019. His seven quarterback takedowns only trailed Ioadinnis’ 8.5, and this Mississippi State product has a lot going for himself beside his first-round pedigree.

Sweat enters his sophomore season in the NFL and is still developing. He’ll continue to grow as a pass-rusher and his sack total could reach double digits. He didn’t record any takedowns in his two games versus the Eagles in 2019, but he had three solo tackles and registered two assists in Week 1. In Week 15, he had one tackle and two assists. Those numbers may change in 2020.

5. player. 58. . . . DT Jonathan Allen

How can former 2017 first-round defensive tackle Johnathan rank one spot higher than Sweat even though he recorded one less sack in 2019? That’s easy, the Eagles offensive line is more vulnerable in the middle than it is at both offensive tackle spots.

Although Allen didn’t register any takedowns in his two games against the Eagles last season, he had seven solo tackles and two assists in Week 15. Then, there’s this. Matt Pryor, if he starts, is no Brandon Brooks. Pryor has proven that he can be effective, but there’s no reason to believe Allen can’t take advantage of this particular matchup.
