Philadelphia Eagles versus Washington: 5 Bold predictions for Week 1
4. Carson Wentz throws three touchdowns in a Philadelphia Eagles victory.
Remember 2017? None of us thought, when Week 1 approached, a game that was also played in D.C. at FedExField, that we’d be discussing a potential MVP season by Carson Wentz. Then, ’11’ eluded pressure, threw a bomb to Nelson Agholor of all people, and the ‘Birds’ were off and running.
As fate would have it, Wentz’s fifth season in the NFL begins in D.C. for Philly’s star quarterback, just like it did in 2017. This is also the third time in four seasons that these two proud franchises meet on pro football’s opening weekend.
The ‘Birds’ hold a six-game winning streak over Washington, and they’ve done it with convincing wins, last-ditch efforts, last minute drives, and good old fashion shootouts. In Week 1 of 2019, DeSean Jackson bailed the Eagles out with two 50-yard bombs from QB1 in the second half. In 2020, expect ’11’ to toss three more touchdown passes to three playmakers on this talented Eagles offense.
One of which is the previously mentioned toss to Greg Ward. Another will find its way to one of Wentz’s favorite targets, Zach Ertz. The third goes to DeSean Jackson. Reagor’s first T.D. of his young career will have to wait for another week (we won’t be angry if we’re wrong about that one though).
