Philadelphia Eagles: 3 Predictions for remainder of Dallas Goedert’s season
By Regina Ham
3. Expect a 1,000-yard season in this Philadelphia Eagles offense.
Though we seem to see an explosion in individual statistics every season, seeing any receiver reach the 1,000-yards receiving plateau is still impressive each time that it happens. Tight ends are asked to block and be threats on both third down and in the red zone, so they don’t always reach the milestone,
Are you ready for this one? This is definitely a bold prediction for a tight end. But it’s not too far outside the realm of possibility that Dallas Goedert could be one of the most-likely candidates to do so for the ‘Birds’.
Over the last two seasons, Goedert has hauled in 91 receptions for 941 yards and nine touchdowns. His receiving and yardage totals have increased in each of the past two seasons, and heading into Year 3, there’s no reason to believe that they won’t do so again.
He’s already off to a great start, having hit 100 yards in the Week 1 game versus Washington. Facing tougher defenses like that of the New Orleans Saints and San Francisco 49ers may limit Goedert’s yardage totals. So might an under-performing Carson Wentz, but having Ertz on the field (and the double-teams Ertz often faces) will help create more opportunities for ’88’. Goedert is healthy and normally injury-free, and that’s a big plus for a sometimes injury-plagued offense. Goedert will hit the 1,000-yard mark this season, and he should post Pro Bowl numbers both this year and beyond.
