player. 54. . . . Wentz versus Goff. 5

The Philadelphia Eagles and L.A. Rams’ quarterbacks are scheduled for a duel.

This is one of those things that, obviously, gets penciled into every defensive game plan in every locker room during every week of the NFL season. This game will always be about five things. One, where are these teams playing? Second, who are the coaches? Third, we have to talk about what the weather is like.

Fourth and fifth on the list is whether or not both teams have found their franchise quarterback and whether or not the opposing team has guys who can rush those quarterbacks.

Jared Goff and Carson Wentz both went first and second in the 2016 NFL Draft respectively. It was believed that we, as football fans, were potentially on a collision course with a rivalry between two young signal-callers in the NFC and that they would see each other often in the postseason.

Well, both of these guys are entering their fifth seasons, and Sunday’s game will be just the second time that they’ve met as the starters. In the first, Philly lost Carson Wentz for the season but won. Let’s hope we get a dissimilar outcome in Week 2 (with the ‘Birds’ winning as they did in these guys’ first matchup of course).

Though they’ll never be on the field at the same time, when guys like Tom Brady and Drew Brees finally leave the NFC, it may be Wentz and Goff that rule the roost. First thing’s first though. There’s a game to play on Sunday.
