3 Reasons Carson Wentz will lead Philadelphia Eagles to Week 3 win
3. The cries for Jalen Hurts to start for the Philadelphia Eagles are increasing.
It’s no secret that the Eagles put themselves in an awkward situation by drafting former Alabama Crimson Tide and Oklahoma Sooners quarterback Jalen Hurts in the second round of 2020’s version of the NFL Draft.
A second-round pick is a high investment in any player. Normally it’s spent on someone that is expected to contribute immediately and it’s especially intriguing that they chose a quarterback after they made the decision to reward their franchise guy with a $120 million extension a few months earlier.
If Wentz continues to disappoint this season, the cries for Hurts to run the offense will only get louder in Philadelphia. The city already went through this when Super Bowl MVP Nick Foles was in town, but the intrigue of a young and dynamic quarterback waiting in the wings will only increase the scrutiny on Wentz.
It’s not likely Hurts is ready to take Wentz’s job right now, but Wentz’s performance is doing the franchise quarterback no favors in easing the concerns of Philadelphia Eagles fans. If ’11’ wants to continue in his role as the unquestioned leader of the Philadelphia Eagles, he needs to start playing like he is.
