The Philadelphia Eagles expected more from Nickell Robey-Coleman.

It probably needs to be stated again. The season is still young. It’s only been three weeks, but the ‘slot god’, Nickell Robey-Coleman, hasn’t lived up to the offseason hype. Similar to Nate Gerry, he’s been targeted early and often by opponents, and so far, he’s allowed nine completions on ten targets. That’s resulted in 114 yards and a touchdown. Pro Football Focus has given him an embarrassing 48.9 grade through the first three games.

Week 3 wasn’t as bad for the 28-year-old. He wasn’t getting beaten off of the line as consistently as he was versus Cooper Kupp in Week 2. There was also a huge pass breakup from Robey-Coleman in overtime where he got beat by Tee Higgins, but if we’re being honest, that was more of a result of an underthrown pass. Either way, ‘NRC’ recovered and ripped the ball out of Higgins’ grasp. Philly will need to see more of that for Robey-Coleman to get an extension after this year.

Trending. 4 FAs the Eagles should still consider. light

He’s played at an elite level in years past, but seeing the ‘Birds’ turn to Cre’Von LeBlanc for the majority of the slot snaps so early isn’t encouraging for Eagles fans. LeBlanc always makes plays and does his job when he’s in the game, so it shouldn’t affect the defense too much. It’s hard to argue now. It isn’t time to seel yet, but Robey-Coleman’s stock is down at the moment.
