These aren’t Buddy Ryan’s Philadelphia Eagles.

Well, once upon a time, knowing that there was a young inexperienced quarterback in the starting lineup for the opposing team was a reason for Philadelphia Eagles fans to foam at the mouth. Unfortunately, those days were back when Brian Dawkins was patrolling the backend of the defense and the late great Jim Johnson was patrolling the sidelines.

You could even think back to the days of Buddy Ryan looking to do bodily harm to any Eagles opponent with the great defenses he built. Well, those days are long gone. Now, we just march a Jim Schwartz-led defense out onto the playing field, cross our fingers, and hope for the best.

One day, the best will come. We hope. It has to. It’s a law of averages thing. Something good has to happen eventually, but these young quarterbacks don’t fear Philly’s defense. Why should they? They’ve made Jared Goff look like Drew Brees and Joe Burrow look like Brett Favre.

The truth is, guys and gals, Philly’s day of reckoning may come, but it’s hard to believe that it will come on Sunday. This team has two questions that need answering. One, how are they going to score, and secondly, how are they going to stop the Niners from scoring? Hey, you never know though. If the ‘Birds’ can force a few turnovers, anything can happen. That’s a tall order though. The Eagles ‘D’ hasn’t forced a single turnover all season, and they’ve made inexperienced guys like Nick Mullens look like Pro Bowl quarterbacks. We’ll have to wait and see what transpires.
