Nathan Gerry, linebacker. 1. player. 54. . .

Is there another member of this Philadelphia Eagles team that has taken more shots than Gerry?

There’s no nice way to say it. Sometimes, you just have to pinch your nostrils closed and take that nasty old medicine, and the facts are as follows.

Nathan Gerry isn’t a great tackler. Nathan Gerry doesn’t scare anyone on any blitz. Nathan Gerry is a subpar linebacker in coverage. At this point, the question needs to be asked. Why can’t Jim Schwartz see this, and why on Earth does this team keep trotting him out onto the field in third-and-long situations?

. . Fletcher Cox, defensive tackle. 2. player. 54.

No one with any real handle on what this Philadelphia Eagles team is will tell you that they’re at a point where they can argue that they need to get rid of Fletcher Cox, but if we’re being honest, no one can tell you definitively that he isn’t starting to show some signs that he’s on the decline.

‘Fletch’ isn’t setting the world on fire, and he’s definitely not living up to his hefty price tag that’s associated with his name either. At times, he’s looked really bad, but he’s also done just enough in key situations to make anyone watching believe that the old ’91’ is still in there somewhere. The question is can he be the dominant player that he once was for four quarters?

Maybe it’s fatigue. Maybe he still isn’t completely healthy, but something is off. What’s worse is it becomes more and more obvious week after week.
