Philadelphia Eagles fans won’t complain about a losing Giants team.

Okay, so you all know that line about the Giants being the only team that will win in Week 5 was a joke right? It just feels like the ‘G-Men’ are going to lose versus Washington doesn’t it? Perhaps the biggest news coming out of both camps this week has been Washington’s announcement that the coaching staff has benched quarterback Dwayne Haskins and will elect to go with Kyle Allen in Week 5.

The Giants are definitely playing hard for head coach Joe Judge. There are some talented players on the roster. Collectively, for whatever reason, they just aren’t good enough to win football games on a consistent basis. General manager Dave Gettleman has been less than stellar in terms of acquiring free-agent talent, but this team has found a few keepers in linebacker Blake Martinez, and cornerbacks James Bradberry and Logan Ryan.

On the offensive side of the ball, in-season pickup Devonta Freeman has shown flashes of the player he was back with the Atlanta Falcons. Wide receiver Darius Slayton looks like he will be a part of the team’s future. The one thing the Giants are missing is competent quarterback play.

Daniel Jones seems to have regressed in his second season in the NFL. The Giants were in a position to tie the game this past weekend with 1:19 remaining on the game clock, but Jones ended up throwing a costly interception. Sure, one mistake doesn’t make or break any player or any game, but franchise quarterbacks are supposed to be able to make those kinds of throws.

If Jones somehow can improve, the Giants will surely win a few games in 2020. Until that happens, don’t expect this team to climb out of the division’s cellar.
