At least the Philadelphia Eagles aren’t in the cellar.

We won’t deny the Giants 20-19 win over Washington has to be encouraging for this franchise. That gave them their first victory of the season. New York isn’t very talented, and that’s beginning to show up week in and week out. Still, had the Eagles not orchestrated two late drives of 70 yards or more in TNF’s fourth quarter, everyone might be talking about the ‘G-Men’ differently.

Any dreams of one more rally by New York died with Daniel Jones’ fumble on their final drive. Heading into Week 8, the Giants should be concerned as he’s turned the ball over 34 times in 20 games. The only quarterback to have done worse than that is former NFL quarterback and certified bust Ryan Leaf. He had 41 turnovers in 20 games.

Leaf stated recently, via his Twitter account, that if Jones doesn’t do a better job of taking care of the football, his career might not last long. The Giants will have the rest of the year and the offseason to evaluate their second-year star, but they will surely be disappointed if the sixth-overall selection from 2019’s NFL Draft doesn’t pan out.

Things won’t get any easier for the Giants in Week 8 as they face what might be the NFC’s best team, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Although anything can happen on any given Sunday, it’s hard to make a case that demonstrates the Giants have enough juice to pull off an upset.
