Philadelphia Eagles versus Dallas: 10 Cowboys that can wreck Week 8
Dallas’s best defense versus the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 8 might be an offense.
Since he arrived in the NFL, Ezekiel Elliott has been an issue for the Philadelphia Eagles’ defense. In six career games versus Philly with ‘Zeke; in the lineup, the Cowboys are 5-1, and ‘Zeke has racked up 621 rushing yards, a 4.7 yards-per-carry average, 278 receiving yards, and five total touchdowns.
He’s deteriorated clearly, but it’s hard not to worry about him when your team gives up just under five yards per attempt.
Okay, Darius Slay has done well whenever he’s covered Amari Cooper, but who in the heck is going to cover Michael Gallup on the other side?
Take everything that was just said in the Michael Gallup portion, substitute the name of whoever is covering Gallup on the outside with whoever is covering CeeDee Lamb in the slot (probably Nickell Robey-Coleman or Cre’Von LeBlanc), and all we’re doing is discussing the same issue.
Philly’s fans thought their Cowboys tight end nightmares were over when Jason Witten left Dallas, but if these young Eagles linebackers aren’t any better than Nathan Gerry was, things could get out of hand and it’s going to be very obvious early.
On the surface, it would seem that Ben DiNucci shouldn’t be much of an issue, but after watching C.J. Beathard slice up the ‘Birds’ in relief of Nick Mullens and after watching the Eagles make Joe Burrow look like Joe Montana, it’s hard to say with complete confidence that DiNucci won’t throw for two touchdowns.
