. . Nickell Robey-Coleman. 5. player. 54.

The Philadelphia Eagles’ decision to add ‘NRC’ hasn’t paid off.

The Eagles brought in Nickell Robey-Coleman in an attempt to stabilize their secondary. ‘NRC’ was surrounded by a nice hype machine, and the theory was Philadelphia thought that they were getting a really good player for a price tag that had to feel like a bargain.

By now, if you’re a fan, the reasons Philly got Robey-Coleman and landed him so inexpensively are obvious. The eight-year veteran hasn’t performed to the level that was expected, and at times, it seems as though he’s hurt this team more than he has helped it.

Coleman has been sharing snaps at slot corner with Cre’von LeBlanc this season, but for one reason or another (including injuries), Coleman has been getting the nod more often than not. Poll most Eagles fans, and they’ll probably tell you that they’d rather have a healthy ‘Strap’ in the lineup than ‘NRC’. Then again, those fans might tell you that they aren’t sure why Robey-Coleman is getting any snaps at all.

Blown coverages, bad reads, and minimal effort have put this veteran cornerback into the category of disappointment, to say the least, and as Eagles fans, it’s beginning to feel as though making Coleman a healthy scratch is probably a better solution than putting him on the field.
