1. The Philadelphia Eagles ‘run it back’ mentality begins in 2018.

An ugly and common theme for the Eagles over the course of the past few seasons has been ineffective roster construction. Like a die-hard music fan, the Birds have created a playlist full of favorites. No, better yet, they’re like a season pass on the DVR, full of reruns of classic shows that aren’t even good anymore.

Let’s set the scene, shall we? It’s February 5th, 2018, the day after the Eagles won the Super Bowl, and the Eagles and fans alike are still celebrating the victory. All is right in the world. As the Iggles prepared for the 2018 season with the Super Bowl’s roster still intact, a repeat should have been on everyone’s minds and a real possibility, right?. Wrong.

The Eagles hung their hat on Jay Ajayi and Alshon Jeffery and didn’t improve the skill positions much, other than adding Dallas Goedert in the draft and Mike Wallace in free agency. Well, Wallace got hurt and eventually, so did Wentz.

Vice president and general manager Howie Roseman would eventually trade for 30-year-old wide receiver Golden Tate before the trade deadline and add Jordan Matthews back to the nest, but eventually, Philly’s season would end with a Nick Foles pass slipping through Jeffery’s hands and into the hands of New Orleans Saints corner Marshon Lattimore as the Birds missed a golden opportunity to qualify for the NFC Championship Game for a second-consecutive season.
