5 Keys to a Philadelphia Eagles win versus Seattle Seahawks in Week 12
By Hunter Doyle
4. The Philadelphia Eagles need to stack the box.
Running back Chris Carson was not on the field when Wilson struggled and he’s expected to return on Monday Night. Carlos Hyde has been running well lately and Carson has been great this year when healthy. Seattle’s offensive line isn’t great but’s improved this year. That group is especially solid in the run game
The Eagles’ run defense showed some signs of improvement versus Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt last week though. Maybe they can get back to being the dominant run defense they have been in recent years. If Alex Singleton and T.J. Edwards continue to play the same way, they’ll certainly make it tough for Seattle to run the ball.
No run game and no room in the pocket means fewer opportunities for these wideouts and tight ends to go to work. Even though the ‘Birds’ have Darius Slay, D.K. Metcalf has taken an unbelievable jump in year two. He’s been slowed down at times but the Eagles shouldn’t expect that on Monday.
Tyler Lockett will have a favorable matchup with either Avonte Maddox or Nickell Robey-Coleman who have both been torched all year. Cre’Von LeBlanc made some plays while covering Lockett in the Wild Card game but he’s on injured reserve. David Moore is a solid number three receiver and the tight ends Will Dissly and Jacob Hollister can do damage as well.
Seattle has the highest success rate in the league when running 12 personnel according to Sharp Football Stats. Watch for Dissly and Hollister to make an impact both blocking and receiving. If the run game gets going with 12 personnel, the Seahawks will run play action all night and get the Eagles linebackers to play undisciplined.
