1. This Philadelphia Eagles legend’s season is going to get worse, not better.

Though he’s only missed the last five games, it feels like Zach Ertz hasn’t played for this Eagles team since Week 1. That was the last great memory most of us have of 86 in the midnight green (or, in all-white, if you want to be specific).

Ertz scored Philly’s first touchdown of the 2020 regular season, but since then, he’s caught 21 passes over the course of the aforementioned five games for 60 yards. Factor in the recent ankle injury that he’s worked so desperately to work his way back from, and you have to ask.

If Reagor’s return meant nothing for this Eagles offense, and DeSean Jackson’s return gave the Eagles nothing in the deep passing game, and Alshon Jeffery’s return led to nothing positive of note, then seriously. What in all honesty can we expect from a returning Ertz at this point?

Sure, he’s back physically. Sure he’s always been Carson Wentz’s favorite target and all. You can factor in the knowledge that he and 11 have always had a better rapport than Wentz and, say, Mr. Jeffery, but is his head in the game? Is he on the downside of a great career? Can the Eagles even afford him?

Things are going to get worse before they get better. 86 isn’t going to just walk into the lineup and start racking up 100-yard receiving games again. It’s going to take a while for him to get back into the swing of things. It just doesn’t feel like he’s one-hundred percent.
