The Philadelphia Eagles defense totaled five sacks against the Saints.

Hero: Javon Hargrave and Josh Sweat, defensive line

When the Philadelphia Eagles needed a stop or big play, Javon Hargrave and Josh Sweat delivered. Together, they totaled nine tackles, four sacks, three tackles for a loss of yardage, and a strip-sack. The entire defensive line was relentless, but Hargrave and Sweat were continuously getting to Taysum Hill.

Hargrave has had some controversy surround him this season, but over the past few weeks, he has shown why he is worth the money the Eagles paid him. Both veterans turned up the heat in this game and were vital in securing the win.

Hero: Jalen Reagor, wide receiver

Though the stat sheet won’t prove this, Jalen Reagor was exceptional in Week 14, and when he did get the ball, his speed and ability were apparent. He totaled 65 yards from scrimmage, but more importantly, he got a lot of attention from the Saints defense.

The Eagles still have three more games to play in the 2020 season, but fans are already calling Reagor a bust. They may want to hold on for at least another season though. Opposing defenses respect the youngster’s speed and ability, and big plays are definitely a part of this young man’s future.

These Philadelphia Eagles found themselves on opposite sides of this list.

Hero: Alex Singleton, linebacker

From the practice squad to the starting lineup, Alex Singleton has been a rising star on the Philadelphia Eagles defense for the past few weeks. Singleton has been apart of some major stops for this defensive unit, but he was vital in this matchup. Singleton totaled 11 tackles and one quarterback hit in Week 14, and he kept many of the plays the Saints were making from breaking big.

Hero: Philly’s defensive front

We have already discussed Sweat and Hargrave’s impact on the game, but the entire defensive front needs some love here. The pass rush has been and will continue to be the Eagles calling card for the remainder of the season. They crashed down and through the Saints’ offensive line on almost every play, and for the most part, they shut down a lot of plays that could have gone for massive gains.

Zero: Nickell Robey-Coleman, cornerback

What is there left to say about Nickell Robey-Coleman? After having one solid tackle to prevent a first down, Coleman was a liability for the remainder of the game. With a secondary unit that was full of practice squad players and young rookies, it was time for NRC to show out and earn his paycheck.

As most of Philly’s fans who were watching the game know, Robey-Coleman was just a body out on the field, consistently being in the wrong place at the wrong time and blowing assignments all over the field. The sooner NRC is out of midnight green, the better it will be for the Eagles.
