2. Are we certain that the Philadelphia Eagles sold on Jalen Hurts?

Let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Hurts had a fantastic game in Week 15 and a nice showing in Week 14 in relief of Wentz during the second half of that game, but six quarters do not an NFL career make.

Let’s be frank. If Tua Tagovailoa and Justin Herbert are starting quarterbacks, Hurts, based on comparison alone, should be considered to be good enough to start somewhere. Why not give him a shot in Philly? We don’t know if those guys are better than Hurts. We don’t know if Hurts is better than they are, at least not yet.

Let’s see how they all handle a little adversity once coaches have a little more film, and then, we’ll reassess. So far so good for Mr. Hurts, but this could turn quickly. What if he gets injured? What if he struggles?

At least, if they held on to him, Philly would have a nice backup option in Carson Wentz should anything happen to Jalen Hurts. They’d just have to deal with the unfortunate circumstance of paying that backup the richest contract for a backup quarterback in what would then be, in 2021, the 102-year history of the NFL.
