The Philadelphia Eagles are officially eliminated from playoff contention.

Well, Philly fans, it is official. The Philadelphia Eagles have been eliminated from the 2020 NFL postseason following their Week 16 loss to the Dallas Cowboys. Not only did the Birds lose to a divisional foe, but they were also absolutely embarrassed thanks to a final score of 37-17.

For some reason, if you didn’t catch this game or turned it off before its conclusion (everyone would understand if you did), this was a divisional matchup that was more than likely in the running for one of the top two or three ugliest Eagles games in recent memory. Here’s a recap (though it pains us to give you one) of Week 16’s game (if you want to call it that).

The Philadelphia Eagles came out hot on their first outing, thanks to a 75-yard drive that was capped with a Miles Sanders touchdown. Philly’s defense generated pressure on the Cowboys’ first drive, sacking Andy Dalton for a big loss and holding them to a field goal.

The next drive for the Birds was a beautiful showcasing of what most Philly fans thought they’d see all season, a bomb from quarterback to receiver. This one was an 81-yard touchdown to none other than DeSean Jackson. Philly had an 11-point lead at that point.

Then, as it always does for this team, disaster struck. Defensive tackle Fletcher Cox left the game with an injury, and everyone watching the game saw this Eagles team fall apart. Dallas outscored the Eagles 27-3 in the second half as whatever fight and hope the Birds had left just withered away.

Now that the pain, hurt, and embarrassment has worn off slightly, let’s hand out a few game balls and talk about the disappointments. Here’s a fair warning to everyone. There are a ton of disappointments to discuss following an abysmal loss to ‘Dem Boys.’
