We’re putting a few Philadelphia Eagles on the 2021 Pro Bowl roster right now.

It’s been an ugly fact about football and just about every other sport for almost as long as Philadelphia Eagles fans or anyone else can remember. Something has to be done about how we give out awards in this country.

Grammy Awards don’t go to the people with the most talent. The Heisman Trophy will be awarded to the best running back or quarterback on one of the country’s two or three best teams. The term Most Valuable Player should be rewritten or redefined because, as of right now, the MVP trophy is a popularity contest, one that will probably be won by the quarterback of the best football team.

It kind of sounds like the Pro Bowl doesn’t it? What should be an all-star team of the game’s most gifted and most productive players has become a popularity contest. Fans vote for guys that they’ve heard of, guys they’ve seen on television often, or the players that play for their favorite NFL teams. Some guys are deserving, but stories aren’t written about snubs for no reason.

Yes, Jason Kelce and Fletcher Cox are again on the Pro Bowl roster, and most can accept that. Brandon Graham deserves a tip of the cap too for his first nod, but is anyone else thinking about why it took so long for him to be given one? Can you see it now? It’s called a popularity contest, but we won’t complain too much. Instead, we’ll talk about several young Birds who could find their way onto the NFL’s all-star team in 2021. Let’s have some fun.
