Philadelphia Eagles: Final position grades from 2020’s NFL season
The Philadelphia Eagles seem never to put any capital into this position.
Linebackers: C-
The most ignored unit on the entire Eagles football team continues to see the organization put no effort into making the second level of their defense better. When the starting linebacking group consisted of T.J Edwards, Nate Gerry, and Duke Riley at the beginning of the season, in the minds of some Eagles fans, there was no hope at that point.
As a matter of fact, it’s easy to give this unit a failing grade, but the emergence of Alex Singleton as a starter and the fact that the Iggles have two young prospects in Shaun Bradley and Davion Taylor qualify as hope. The Birds still need to put some effort into making this group a formidable one.
Special Teams: F
Does this grade really need an explanation? From Jake Elliott missing chip shots to coach Dave Fipp thinking it is a good idea to have Greg Ward field punts, only one word can really be used to describe the Birds’ special teams unit, abysmal.
Both sides, returning and kicking, were just bad. That is one unit that needs to be heavily examined and even torn apart if necessary. It has given the Eagles a bad field position multiple times and has given opposing teams fantastic field position multiple times. As stated before, this entire unit was abysmal.
