4 NFL Draft prospects Philadelphia Eagles must avoid at six
Just because a guy is good, it doesn’t mean the Philadelphia Eagles need him.
Without an NFL Combine to give us all an opportunity to see the best prospects as they engage in NFL-style workouts for pro scouts and representatives of each of the league’s 32 teams, we’ll have to rely on everything we have on tape from these awesome young men so far.
In the case of some of these prospects, Oregon’s Penei Sewell for instance, we’ll have to rely on what we saw back in 2019 and everything that preceded that. Sewell didn’t rejoin the Ducks for the Pac-12’s shortened college football season in 2020. He elected instead to prepare for the NFL Draft on his own.
No one can blame him for that. The COVID-19 pandemic turned all of our worlds upside down, but no one’s forgotten who Sewell is or how well he’s performed since joining the Ducks’ program. He’s seen by just about every draft pundit that’s worth his or her salt as the best offensive tackle in the upcoming selection meeting.
This young man has more than his fair share of physical and athletic gifts. He’s six-foot-six and tips the scales at 325 pounds. He explodes out of his stance, is hard to move, and is good in space, but the Eagles, who most definitely need help along the offensive line, have invested a lot of resources into both Andre Dillard (their first-round selection from 2019) and Jordan Mailata, who made a major stride in 2020.
Believe it or not, as desperate as the Birds are along the offensive line, they’re more desperate at other areas, and those areas need to be addressed before they add another offensive tackle. Where is Prince Tega Wanogho by the way?
